For a long time, the rocket stove was largely unknown in Europe. Yet its origins go back many decades, and it still serves as a basic cooking solution in many African countries today.
The Rocket Stove – In the beginning there was fire
As mentioned before, a rocket stove is a cooking and fire station powered by natural fuels (wood or even coal). The burning process is extremely efficient and energy-saving. The rocket stove, with its chimney effect, is not a modern invention—it dates back in principle to the year 1780. However, the rocket stove as we know it today was ultimately developed in 1980 by Dr. Larry Winiarski.
Africa and the Rocket Stove
About half of the world’s population cooks with wood. In rural areas of Africa, this number is nearly 100%. That’s why highly efficient combustion is crucial not only for the people living there but also for the climate and CO₂ reduction.
During our search for a partner and manufacturer, friends living in Africa introduced us to the rocket stove. We learned that entire villages there cook exclusively with rocket stoves.

We instantly fell in love with the idea and wanted to bring this brilliant device to the Western world. To do so, we refined every detail—quality, materials, and design—lifting the rocket stove concept to a new level.
Now this ingenious idea finally has the quality and design it deserves.
